The GIS Media Center is a fun, exciting place to learn and grow. We have over 9,000 books and 32 computers to help the students at GIS with their educational adventure..
The library cataloging system we use is Destiny, which is on-line based. Our students can search for books, authors and subjects from any computer in the school district as well as from their home computer.
The Media Center also has 27 computers in it's lab area. This is where classes do lessons and projects as well as research. With on-line resources as well as books our students have a great way to enjoy learning about themselves and their world. Individual students also come to the computer lab area to finish computer assignments, take on-line reading assessments or practice their keyboarding skills.
In our GIS Library area, we have a projector to show students information from computers, document cameras or DVD videos. To raise money to purchase books, we have a Book Fair two times a year so the GIS students have more reading opportunities.
To raise funds for library books, we have 2 Scholastic Book Fairs during the school year. The fall Book Fair is the week before Thanksgiving and the spring Book Fair is the week before spring break. All moneys raised are used to purchase books for our GIS library. Volunteers for helping in the library and Book Fair are always welcome. You can contact our main office for more information.
