Hello. I am happy to have returned to GIS. This year I am working as the resource teacher for 5th grade literature, language arts, and math. I am also working as one of the 4th grade resource teachers for literature.
I am looking forward to continuing to develop instruction that will meet the needs of all students in my classroom.
We are just beginning to read the Fighting Ground by Avi in Ms. Kane's class. It is set during the American Revolution and its theme is all about choices.
By studying and tracking how Jonanthan, the main character of the story, changes we will be searching for how those changes contribute to the choices he makes.
Our focus for reading will ialso nclude plottting story elements so that we can better recognize how the setting and events contribute to the problem and solution.
If you see me in Mrs. Shuler's class, you will notice how we are all reading books at our independent reading level. It has already been eye opening to a lot of us as we have discovered how much more we enjoy and understand a book when it is at our reading level! This individualized approach has really helped us as teachers to clearly see how we more specifically can lead our students to get deeper meaning out of their reading.
