Science is the process of looking at the world and figuring out how it works.  Biology focuses on living things, Chemistry on the pieces that make up all objects, and Physics on the behavior of energy.  

In my classes, we study these sciences through hands-on activities or personal experiences.  We study everyday objects--the chemistry of household cleaners and balloons; the physics of cell phones and cars.   We study ourselves--the chemistry of food; the physics of sight and hearing.  We study "toys"--the chemistry of fireworks and slime; the physics of catapults and optical illusions.

We study the science of the world around us because the world around us obeys the same scientific laws and principles as the green stuff bubbling in a chemist's lab.  You don't need a lab coat to be a scientist, just curiosity about your world.
