My name is Mrs. Joni Clarke. I have been teaching for seventeen years. For sixteen of those years, I have been teaching 5th grade. I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education from Michigan State University and my Master's of Arts in Education from Olivet College.
I currently teach Language Arts (reading and writing), Math, and Social Studies. Mrs. Meisterheim will be teaching Science to my students. I love all the subjects! I can't read and learn enough. I always look forward to learning something new.
While in 5th grade, your child will also have Spanish, Physical Education, Art, and Communications. There is also an option to take band, choir, or a reading enrichment course.
I will have all the supplies in our classroom that your child will need throughout the year. However, I do understand that many students like to have their own materials. Some things that students like to have of their own include: colored pencils, pencil box/bag, washable markers, a couple pens, pencils, an enclosed pencil sharpener, a glue stick, a large eraser, scissors, a ruler, a highlighter and dry erase marker, and a backpack with one wheels. I also strongly recommend a water bottle.
Our classroom will occasionally be in need of hand sanitizer, tissues, and Clorox Wipes to help keep all the germs at bay. If you are able to donate any of those items, I would greatly appreciate it.
