Class cancellation process:

Most classes require a minimum number of participants.  If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, we will contact registrants within 24 hours of the first class and a full refund will be issued.

Refund Procedures:

To cancel your registration, please mail tpienta@erpsk12.org.  Class cancellations must be requested 48 hours prior to the first class for a full refund.  A 50% refund is offered for cancellation prior to the second class.  No refund will be given after the second class or after a one-day seminar.  Refunds are typically processed within 30 days.

Community Education Programs

Our Community Education Classes are typically run out of Union Street Center.  Any other class sites will be indicated in the course descriptions listed below.  We would love to hear your ideas about classes that you would like to take or teach.  Give us a call at 517-663-8169!

We are currently accepting class proposals for our Community Education Program!  This is a great opportunity to share your skills with others.  Print and mail a copy of the Course Proposal Form to the attention of Teresa Pienta at 501 Union Street or e-mail a completed form to tpienta@erpsk12.org.

BEGINNING LAW

Local attorney at Law, Dr. Donald Baranski, will be holding different classes/seminars each month that will cover a wide range of subjects. Each session will focus specifically on one topic where questions can be easily asked and answered. Some of the subjects will include: Small Claims court, Divorce and custody, Last Will and Testament, Living Trust, Power of attorney, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Starting a business, Real Estate, Probate, Judgments, and Criminal Law just to name a few. Check back often to see which topics will be covered! 

January 20th  - Probate: Overview of Last Wills, Trusts, Financial Power of Attorneys, Medical Power of Attorneys, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and Deceased Estates. The policy of Medicaid on recovering funds from a deceased estate.

January 27th - Small Claims: Overview of how to file a case with the Small Claims Court for cases under $5,000 in value. The procedures and types of cases that may be brought to court. Family issues in Court. Preparing a Case for Trial, Michiga n Freedom of Information Act, Necessity and Use of Notary Publics, Defending a Lawsuit, Minors, Criminal Acts, Michigan Consumer Protection Act, Business Debts, Automobile Mini Tort, Automotive Garages, Landlord/Tenant. Residential Construction, Child Care, and Illegal Contracts.

February 10th -  Adoptions and Minor Guardianships: Overview of newborn baby adoptions without adoption agency, step-parent adoptions, family and grandparent adoptions, and minor guardianships, limited guardianships and full guardianships.

Beginning painting

Learn brush technique, color mixtures, wet on wet, blending, setting up canvases and much more!  Start out with a 12x16 canvas and complete an oil painting in just 90 minutes. Class is taught by Dave Baker, a Bob Ross Certified Instructor. ALL supplies are provided.  The painting changes every month!

Dates:  Tuesdays; 1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21, 5/19, 6/16

Time:  6:00pm to 8:30pm

champions of the realm (Grades 6 to 8)

The heroes follow the mysterious Carumar along the corrupted ley line through Deep Glen. Dangers lurk over every rise. Discoveries are made, and suspicions mount. Soon they must face the unseen Rot Witch, and Rootmung, the Mouldering Lord.

Dates:  Fridays Jan 30 - March 6

Dodgeball (Ages 6 - Adult)

Get your duck, dodge and dive ready for dodgeball offered by Eaton Rapids Recreation, LLC.  Teams are co-ed and ages 6 years old through adult.  Teams will be assigned based on age group.  This is a great workout and fun for all involved.  Game time each Saturday will be early-late afternoon and depends on participation.  Players will be emailed to confirm game time once set. 

Dates: Saturdays -  January Session: 1/10, 1/16 (friday night),  1/24, 1/31;  Feb/March Session 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28; April Session; 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25; May Session; 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/30 (skipping 5/23)

er ladies boot camp

A fun but challenging boot camp experience based on weight lifting.  All levels of fitness or experience are welcome! Classes are scheduled on a month to month basis.

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays - Session 1 - 1/6 - 2/26,  Session 2 - 3/3 - 4/23,  Session 3 - 4/28 - 6/18

Time:  6:00pm to 7:00pm

Place:  ERHS Weight Room

Cost:  $100/ 8 week session

Fencing -  (ages 12&Up)

This is an on-going class to teach the basics of fencing.  Footwork and blade work are introduced.  Students will progress in class at their own speed and ability level, as well as have opportunities to train with other fencers.  There is club equipment available for use in class.  Classes are scheduled on a month to month basis.  All returning students who register a "First Time" student will be eligible for a FREE month of lessons!

Cost: Monthly - $100/first time students (includes one time equipment fee),  $50 for returning students

indoor Tee Ball Clinic (Ages 3 - 6)

Keep the kiddos busy this winter with indoor tee ball! Participation is for boys and girls. The clinic is designed to introduce the kids to the fun of tee ball with help learning hand eye coordination, batting off a tee, throwing, catching, fielding, running bases, learning outs, and much more! A parent/gardian must be present at all times.

You will receive detailed information about the time of your childs clinic after registration. All classes will be held on Saturdays at Union Street Center. Classes run by Eaton Rapids Recreation, LLC

ISLAND COLISEUM (Under 13 must be accompanied by adult)

Step into the ISLAND COLISEUM! Improve your strategic skills, test your wit and grit against live opponents, and have fun! This ALL-AFTERNOON session of strategy, table-top. CCG, and board games will feature optional workshops designed to give you and edge. Competitive and casual gamers; new game designers; games available or bring your favorite; games for young children and families, too! Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Workshops - Workshop cost and topics vary each session. Informaion will be posted at a later time.

Time: 12 noon to 6:00p

Mid Michigan Family Theatre production of -  mr. Toad's mad adventures (AGE 5 - ADULT)

Here is a delightful new version of Kenneth Grahame's always popular The Wind in the Willows. Toad of Toad Hall is an eccentric but likable chap given to "crazes." His latest craze involves motorcars. Unfortunately, he smashes them up as fast as he gets them. He even steals one for a wild ride over the countryside. Naturally, this gets him into a great deal of trouble. His dear friends Badger, Rat and Mole do their best to help, but their efforts aren't enough...

                                          **ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A PART**

Who: Interested actors and tech personnel ages 5 - adult. 

Dates: Auditions - Monday December 8 and Tuesday December 9 

Time:  Check in for auditions 6:45 - 7:00

Cost: Participation Fee $25 for all students. Adults will not be assessed a production fee but are asked to help mentor younger actors and / or help with production duties such as costuming, set building, etc.

Production Dates: Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7, 2015 starting at 7:00 p.m. 

Rehearsal information: Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on January 6, 2015. Rehearsal times are from 6:30 - 8:30 at Union Street Center. Please arrive a few minutes ahead of time so that we may start on time.  

Sanchin-Ryu's Karate for Kids (Grades K-8)

This program combines two crucial courses into one - Sanchin-Ryu Karate & Self-Defense and Project Secure Child (child safety). This class is taught by Certified Sanchin-Ryu Instructors, Master Dave Korman and Sensei Scott Jansen.

Dates:  Thursdays, Fall 1 Session: 9/18 - 11/06 Fall 2 Session 11/13 - 01/22 (skipping 11/27, 12/25, and 1/1) Winter Session: 2/5 - 3/26

small claims court (18 & up)

Dr. Baranski, is an Attorney and Law School Professor who wrote, "Small Claims Court in Michigan, How to bring and Defend Your Case in Court and Collect Upon Your Judgment." This course is designed for someone with no court experience to have an overview of how the Small Claims Court operates. Class fee includes an email copy of Dr. Baranski's book. The first day is on how to go to Small Claims Court. The second day is how to collect on the judgment or to defend on the collections of the judgment.

writing for life

Have you ever wanted to write, but wasn't sure how to begin? Do you feel as if you have a story within you to tell? Are you interested in learning how personal writing, whether it is writing poetry, journaling or some other type of writing, can enhance your life? If so, this is the class for you! Angela Gambrel, an award-winning journalist and lifetime writer, will guide you in this workshop-style class and help you learn the joys of writing! Ms. Gambrel received her BA in English writing from Eastern Michigan University and her MA in English Composition and Communication from Central Michigan University. There are no wrongs in writing - only the excitement of putting words together with meaning! Please bring your favorite writing tool (pen and paper, ipad, laptop...)

Zumba - summer classes (ages 13 & UP)

The Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to created a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away!  The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.  This class is for all ages and fitness levels. An optional  20 minute strength training class follows the Zumba class. You will need to supply your own free weight. Instructor Denise Perkins.
